Clarke County Parks

We are home to expansive, naturally beautiful sites that offer a perfect setting for picnics, wildlife observation, and outdoor activities.

Find your secret garden or stroll the storywalk at Blandy Experimental Farm, the State Arboretum of Virginia. Walk trails and delight in the flora and fauna of each season.  Listen to stories on your phone with Blandy’s Dial-a-Tree program or the audio self-guided tour.

Chet Hobert Park and Recreation Center provides recreational fun for the whole family with 5 pavilion shelters, an outdoor swimming pool, picnic areas, a 2-mile walking trail, baseball fields, soccer fields, a playground, and tennis courts.

Rose Hill Park in Downtown Berryville is the site of Music in the Park summer concerts, holiday events, playground equipment, picnic tables, and a gazebo.  See all Berryville Main Street events here.

Pack your backpack and drive up to the Bear’s Den Hostel on the Blue Ridge Mountains and have a picnic on the rock outcropping overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, Shenandoah River and the Allegheny Mountains.

Nearby Sky Meadows State Park

Sky Meadows encompasses over 1,000 acres and contains historic Mount Bleak House.  The park is open from 8:00 am to dusk every day, and there is a $10 parking fee.  A hiking trail is accessible by parking at Liberty Hill Road before Ashby Gap.  Head south on the Appalachian Trail from Route 50 with beautiful views of the Piedmont.
