East Meets West at Barns of Rose Hill
East Meets West features two sides of Janice Clark’s artistic journey: vibrant soft pastel landscapes and graceful Chinese watercolor paintings. After discovering Chinese Brush Painting, Clark was drawn to its beauty, discipline, and expressive brushwork. Trained in traditional techniques, she works with rice paper and incorporates influences from the Lingnan School while blending Eastern traditions with a touch of Western Impressionism.
More recently, Clark found inspiration in soft pastels after learning about the renowned Henri Roché handmade pastels and their rich, luminous colors. What began as curiosity quickly became a passion, opening new possibilities for capturing the beauty of the natural world.
Through these two distinct mediums, East Meets West reflects Clark’s enthusiasm for learning, exploration, and artistic expression, inviting viewers to experience landscapes and subjects shaped by both Eastern and Western influences.
